in dictionary it says" A cut to later action from one filmed scene to the next, creating an effect of discontinuity or acceleration." I think a jump cut can be flashbacks, because there are lots of flashbacks in SBM.
a jump cut is not a flashback...and this is not directly related to SBM...it is a newer film technique that is used in more current films. keep looking.
