As I know port has got something to do with computer and ships. Port is cable entry for computers and for ships it's a city which is near sea with harbour. Im guessing :]
Today, we have brought a computer tecnician for him to solve our internet problems. After I ve read Nurefsan's comment, I thought that it would be better to ask to our technician. He showed me the enterances behind the computer and also the adsl modem. Other than the technological meaning, it's also used to describe the place where the ships or the airplanes land. To summarize, it's an opening or entrance to a place/thing.
I know that while navigating ships, "port side" is left and "starboard side" is right. So, here's another place "port" is used, other than the information nurefsan and tugce provided.
İt is place which can take into something to itself. It will be in the computer , in the airplane or even in the internet... It is really common word.
it means alcohol.we learned it today:)
