Wednesday

So I am returning on Wednesday of this week. I am not sure what Ms. Sevimli told you guys, but I will only be returning to teach 9H for the rest of the year (sorry 9G). It makes me sad that I cannot give 9G a proper good bye, so here is the goodbye! I will miss you! If you need anything, please feel free to email me or post/comment on the blog.

I will still leave all the links up for the blogs, but only 9H is now responsible for keeping up to date with their blogs.

Personal Blogs

Today, everyone in the class should have their blog started. This does not mean it should be anywhere near complete, but you should start posting and creating content for it.

You can work on the color sheme and layout whenever you choose, but the writing is the most important asepct. In time, you can developh it (explore it on your own) and imbed video and pictures and create a whole storybook of the things you love.

I hope you guys will really like it. I need ALL of you (everyone in both classes) to comment to this post with your URL for the blog. This is not the title of the blog, but the web address for the blog. I want to make sure every student's blog is listed on the left hand side. I am also going to remove the blogs of interest over the Bayram, so if you still want to follow one, make sure you copy the link into your "followers" section of your blogger.com home page (or Dashboard).

Hopefully all of this blogging vocabulary will make sense to you, but if it does not, please ask me questions, and I will respond in the comments of this post.

Reminder: Excursion Day will be October 8th! We will be going to the Princes' Islands. Make sure you bring your handout with you that I distributed in class.

Blog Check

Some other things to think about when following the blog you chose to follow:

1. does the blog have many grammatical or spelling errors? how does that affect the reading?
2. what are the "categories" or "tags" for each of the posts? are they humorous or informational?
3. did you come across any "how-to" articles?
4. are there any interviews?
5. does the blogger poll his/her readers ever? what kinds of comments do people make?

Blog Check

I want you to pay attention to the following things on the blog your are reading:

1. how often does the writer post?
2. what are the topics of their posts?
3. do they use pictures? when?
4. what is the tone of their writing?
5. what was your favorite post about?

PS - Keep an eye out for tomorrow's Feature Student! I wonder who it will be?! You'll have to check and see.

Blog Check

For the next week, I want you to choose a blog on the left hand side that fits with something you enjoy and "follow it" for the next week. Following a blog means you will read it and make comments on it for the next week and get a sense of what the person writes about.

I want you to start thinking about what kind of blog you would like to have and how it can represent you! So, while you read, think about what you like and what you don't like about the blog.

HW reminder:
9H - complete the Responsibility survey and also start reading a blog of your choice for the next week

9G - start reading a blog and track it every day for the next week

Great job today in class! I loved our discussions about culture and learning about all of the ways that cultures are sometimes manipulated (positively and negatively). Many of you had really good ideas and really understood a lot of what we were talking about! Great job!
