Where are you?

Where are my students at? I think I will do 2 interviews a week when I return since I haven't been able to interview anyone lately. I will interview everyone, so if you want an interview via email, email me now -- otherwise we will do a face to face interview :). Your choice!

Reading

When you read, do you read faster as the pages turn?

I think I do. Make sure you read for at least 15 minutes before putting a book down until tomorrow. If you read only for 5 minutes, you will barely be able to become interested in the plot. Give it a chance! Think about how much TV you watch to "get" the story and really get into a show. Give a book at least half that.

Breaks

What are you guys up to for your holiday? The two week break is coming soon. I hope you have started looking at The Giver and reading some.

My first son starts pre-school tomorrow! I am very excited for him. We had a special dinner for his birthday and for the start of school. Do you have any traditions before the school year begins?

Exam Tip 6

After taking this set of exams, use your strengths and weaknesses as a learning tool. When you get the exams back, remember what you did well on and what you did poorly on. This way you can improve for the next exams. You will always be tested and evaluated in life, so there should always be a reflection after an evaluation of any kind. Take the feedback sincerely and make sure you take the time to take a good, honest look at yourself and your abilities. Don't stress out though -- your grades are not you, they are just a reflection of your work.

Exam Tip 5

BALANCE

Allow for balance in your life, even during exam time. Make sure you get enough sleep, eat well, and even exercise physically. This way your mind will be ready when it needs to be. If you study too much, your brain will be worn out and you will not perform the way you had hoped. All the studying will not help without a bit of balance.

Exam Tip 4

Answer Questions in a strategic order:

1- answer easy questions first

2- answer questions with the highest point value first

Exam Tip 3

Review your answers before deciding you have finished the exam. An exam period is intense and your mind is engaged in severely analytical thinking in a short period of time.

After you have decided you completed the exam and answered the questions, take a moment to review and look over the exam with a more relaxed mind. Yes, maybe you finished filling in all the answers, but have you answered them appropriately, did you think about them in the right way? Probably, but give it one more look before deciding you have finished.
